Larry Berg Flight Path Park
Tucked along the Fraser River in Richmond, this narrow waterfront park sits directly under the final approach path for Vancouver International Airport, making it one of the best plane-spotting locations in the region. Aircraft pass remarkably low overhead every few minutes, giving you a dramatic perspective that works especially well with a telephoto lens in the 200-400mm range to compress the plane against the skyline or river backdrop. Face north to frame incoming flights with the Fraser River and downtown Vancouver in the distance, or turn around to catch departures climbing out over the water. Overcast days diffuse harsh shadows and bring out detail in the aircraft livery, while golden hour adds warm tones to both the planes and the river surface. The park has a paved path and open grassy areas, so positioning is flexible and access is straightforward from the parking area off Templeton Street. (Richmond, British Columbia, Canada)
