Lomanstraat
Lomanstraat is a narrow, tree-lined residential street in the Oud-Zuid neighborhood of Amsterdam, where dense canopies of elm trees arch over the road and create a natural tunnel effect that rewards patient photographers. The one-way layout keeps traffic minimal, giving you time to set up without constant interruption. Position yourself low on the centerline of the street and use a longer focal length, around 70-135mm, to compress the trees and pull the receding lines together into a tight, layered composition. Autumn is the standout season here, typically late October through early November, when the leaves turn gold and orange and often carpet the pavement below. Overcast days work surprisingly well by softening shadows under the canopy, but a low morning sun cutting through the branches adds beautiful backlit warmth. Parking is limited so arriving on foot or by bike is the practical choice. (Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands)
