Gustav Mahlerlaan View

Gustav Mahlerlaan is a wide corporate boulevard in Amsterdam's Zuidas financial district, lined with striking glass and steel towers that create dramatic urban canyon compositions. The street's symmetry is its biggest asset; position yourself in the center of the road or median and shoot straight down the axis to compress the architecture into a tight, powerful leading line. Early morning on weekdays gives you clean shots before traffic and pedestrians build up, and overcast skies work particularly well here by softening reflections on the glass facades. Golden hour adds warm tones against the cool steel and glass, creating a nice contrast. A wide angle lens between 16 and 24mm lets you exaggerate the perspective and height of the buildings, while a longer focal length around 70mm compresses the towers for a denser, more graphic look. Street-level access is straightforward with tram and metro stops nearby. (Amsterdam, Netherlands)
