RAI Amsterdam
RAI Amsterdam is a sprawling convention and exhibition complex with bold modernist architecture, offering strong geometric lines, dramatic facades, and large glass surfaces that reward architectural photographers. The exterior presents a mix of angular canopies, repetitive structural grids, and open plazas that work well with wide or ultra-wide lenses in the 16-24mm range. Look for leading lines along the covered walkways and entry halls, or position yourself low to exaggerate the height of the facade against the sky. Overcast days soften the light and reduce harsh reflections on the glass, making them ideal for clean architectural shots, though blue hour adds a striking contrast between interior glow and the darkening sky. The area around the main entrance and the south side of the complex offers the most visually interesting compositions. Public transport stops directly outside, and the surrounding plazas give you room to back up and include full building sections. (Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands)
