Lowman Beach Park
Lowman Beach Park is a quiet neighborhood shoreline on Puget Sound that delivers strong sunset compositions without the crowds you would find at nearby Alki. The beach is lined with rocks and driftwood that give you natural foreground interest, while the Olympic Mountains rise across the water to the west, creating a classic Pacific Northwest layered shot. You can frame the mountains with driftwood logs in the foreground, or wade slightly into the water during low tide to capture reflections of the sky. Alki Point and Williams Point flank the view and add depth to wider compositions. Sunset is the prime time to visit, when warm light hits the mountains and the sound turns gold. Parking is limited along the residential street, so arrive early to secure a spot. A wide angle lens between 16 and 24mm works well here for capturing the full scene.
