Marina City's twin corncob towers are among the most recognizable pieces of architecture in Chicago, their circular concrete forms and stacked balconies creating strong geometric patterns that reward both wide and tight compositions. From the Chicago Riverwalk directly across the river on the south bank, you get a clean, low angle looking north that frames both towers together, especially effective with a 24-70mm lens to capture the full pair or compress in on the facade detail. Including the river in the foreground adds depth and gives you reflection opportunities on calm mornings. Overcast days work surprisingly well here, as soft diffused light brings out the texture of the concrete without harsh shadows cutting across the curved balconies. Golden hour adds warmth to the façade and the surrounding water. The Riverwalk is flat, accessible, and gives you room to shift your position and experiment with symmetry or slight off-center framing. (Chicago, Illinois, United States)
