Masjid Sultan

Masjid Sultan is one of Singapore's most recognizable landmarks, its golden domes and ornate facade making it a rewarding subject for architectural and street photography. The mosque sits at the heart of Kampong Glam, and the surrounding Arab Street neighborhood gives you plenty of context to work with. Shoot from Bussorah Street for a classic symmetrical composition with the mosque centered at the end of the pedestrianized lane, flanked by shophouses and often decorated with colorful bunting. A wide angle lens works well here to capture the full streetscape, while a longer focal length lets you isolate the domes and details. Early morning gives you soft light and empty streets, while the golden hour before sunset brings warm tones that complement the mosque's color beautifully. Respect that this is an active place of worship and dress modestly if you plan to enter the grounds. (Kampong Glam, Singapore)
