Mount Royal's eastern lookout, known as the Kondiaronk Belvedere, gives you one of the most commanding views of Montreal's downtown skyline, with the St. Lawrence River visible in the distance on clear days. The wide terrace lets you shift your position to isolate specific clusters of buildings or take in the full panorama, and a longer focal length in the 70-200mm range helps compress the skyline and bring out the layered depth of the city. Shoot at sunrise for soft, even light with minimal crowds and a warm glow on the glass towers, or arrive at blue hour just after sunset when the city lights begin to balance the fading sky.
