Tour de l'Horloge
This 1920s clock tower stands at the edge of the Old Port, giving you a strong vertical subject to work with against the open sky and the St. Lawrence River. You can shoot the tower itself from below using a wide angle to emphasize its height, or step back along the waterfront promenade to include the Jacques Cartier Bridge in the background for a layered composition. The east-facing facade catches warm morning light at sunrise, making it the best time to visit for clean, well-lit shots with soft shadows. In the evening, the tower is lit up and reflects nicely in the water below, offering a different mood entirely. The surrounding boardwalk gives you plenty of room to reframe and adjust your distance. A 24-70mm lens covers most situations well here, from tight architectural detail to wider environmental shots. (Montreal, Quebec, Canada)
