NOA Building
The NOA Building is a striking piece of brutalist architecture in Minato, where a chunky red brick podium gives way to a smooth, blue-green elliptical tower that catches light in unexpected ways throughout the day. Position yourself at street level across the intersection to capture the full contrast between the two forms, or get closer to emphasize the texture of the brick base against the curved metallic upper section. A wide-angle lens works well for the full structure, while a short telephoto lets you isolate the elliptical tower against the sky and compress the surrounding cityscape. Overcast days soften reflections on the curved facade and bring out the blue-green tones of the upper section, though direct afternoon sun can create interesting shadows along the curves. The building sits at a corner, giving you multiple angles to work from without needing to venture far. (Minato City, Tokyo, Japan)
