The interior of Old Faithful Inn is one of the most dramatic architectural spaces in the American West, a soaring seven-story log lobby built from knotted lodgepole pine and volcanic rhyolite stone that somehow feels both rustic and monumental. The central fireplace chimney rises through the full height of the room, and the stacked balconies create natural leading lines that pull the eye upward. Shoot from the main floor looking up to compress those balcony layers, or climb to one of the upper walkways and shoot downward for a vertiginous overhead perspective. Midday works surprisingly well here since the interior has consistent warm ambient light from chandeliers and the surrounding windows. A wide-angle lens in the 16-24mm range is essential to capture the full vertical scale; a tripod is helpful for slower exposures if light is low. Arrive early morning before crowds fill the lobby.
