The Palais Galliera is a stunning late 19th-century neoclassical palace in Paris, built in Italian Renaissance style with ornate stone facades, arched loggias, and a beautifully manicured garden courtyard that gives you strong symmetry to work with. The front facade facing Avenue Pierre 1er de Serbie rewards a straight-on wide angle shot, while the garden side lets you use the formal hedges and pathways as leading lines toward the building. Step back to include the sculpted balustrades and urns for foreground interest, or move in close to isolate the carved stone details and reliefs. Overcast days are ideal here since they eliminate harsh shadows on the pale stonework and keep tones even across the facade. A 24-35mm lens covers the full building comfortably from the courtyard. The palace sits quietly between the Trocadéro and Champs-Elysées neighborhoods, making it easy to combine with nearby shoots. (Paris, Île-de-France, France)
