Perched on the rocky southern tip of Po Toi Island, this compact white lighthouse overlooks the open South China Sea and marks the southernmost lighthouse point in Hong Kong. The structure itself is small but striking against the dramatic coastal scenery, and you can frame it from below against the sky or position yourself above to include the jagged rocks and churning water in the foreground. A wide angle lens works well for capturing the lighthouse alongside the seascape, while a telephoto can isolate details against the horizon. Golden hour light hits the white tower beautifully in the late afternoon, and the extreme isolation from city light pollution makes this one of Hong Kong's best spots for astrophotography on clear nights. Reaching Po Toi requires a ferry from Aberdeen or Stanley, so plan around the limited sailing schedule and give yourself time to hike the trail out to the lighthouse. (Po Toi, Hong Kong)
