Princess Louise Falls
Tucked into a suburban green space in Orleans, this urban waterfall surprises visitors with its scale and geological character. Taylor Creek drops several meters over layered sedimentary rock shelves, creating a tiered cascade that feels more like something you'd find along the Niagara Escarpment than in a residential neighborhood east of Ottawa. Position yourself low and close to the base to emphasize the height and the stacked rock formations, or step back to capture the full drop in a single frame. Overcast days are ideal here, eliminating harsh shadows in the gorge and bringing out the texture in the stone and the color of the water. A wide angle lens works well for environmental context, while a telephoto lets you isolate individual rock layers and water flow. The site is easy to reach on foot and requires no technical access.
