St. Mary The Virgin Anglican Church
Built in 1876 to serve the farming families of Daggs Settlement and Green's Creek, this small red brick Anglican chapel sits tucked along Navan Road, surrounded by mature trees that add depth and framing to nearly every shot. The compact scale of the building works in your favor; a wide-angle lens lets you get close and emphasize the steeply pitched roofline and arched windows while keeping the full structure in frame. Shoot from a low angle on the front corner to bring the stone foundation and brickwork into the foreground. The surrounding trees make overcast days ideal, softening harsh shadows and letting the warm tones of the brick pop. Golden hour adds a gentle glow to the facade, especially in autumn when the foliage turns. Parking is easy along the road, and the open churchyard gives you room to explore several compositions without obstruction. (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada)
