Raffles Marina Lighthouse
Raffles Marina Lighthouse is a compact but striking 12-metre white lighthouse sitting at the end of a pier on Singapore's western coast, offering open water views toward the Johor Strait and the Tuas Second Link causeway connecting Singapore to Malaysia. The lighthouse itself makes a strong foreground subject, and you can frame it against dramatic skies or use the pier's railing and walkway as a leading line drawing the eye toward it. Sunset is the prime time to shoot here, with the light catching the white tower and warm tones reflecting off the surrounding water. Wide to standard focal lengths work well for environmental shots, while a short telephoto lets you isolate the lighthouse against the causeway or passing vessels. The pier is accessible from within Raffles Marina, so be mindful of opening hours; arriving early in the evening gives you time to scout angles before the light peaks. (Singapore)
