Ruisseau Bertrand View
Ruisseau Bertrand is a gentle woodland stream winding through Bois-de-Liesse Nature Park, one of Montreal's quieter urban nature reserves. The stream is narrow enough that you can frame it with overhanging branches and mossy banks on both sides, creating natural tunnel-like compositions that draw the eye downstream. Look for spots where small riffles or shallow cascades add texture and movement to the water; a slower shutter speed works well here to give the stream a silky quality. Overcast days are ideal since the forest canopy can create harsh dappled light in direct sun, and the soft diffused light of an overcast morning brings out rich greens and earthy tones. A wide-angle or standard lens suits the intimate scale of the scene well. The trail network is easy to walk and lets you explore multiple bends and crossings to find your best composition.
