Shirleys Bay Park sits along the Ottawa River about 16 kilometres west of downtown, offering a quiet stretch of shoreline with wide open water views toward the forested Quebec hills on the opposite bank. The scene is at its best in autumn when the far shore erupts in deep reds, oranges, and yellows, reflected in the calm water below. Shoot from the water's edge using a wide angle lens to capture both the reflections and the sky, or use the shoreline itself as a natural leading line pulling the eye toward the hills. Early morning is ideal, when mist often hangs over the river and the light is soft and directional. The park is easy to reach by car with parking nearby, and the flat, open shoreline gives you room to move and adjust your framing without obstruction. (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada)
