Stafnesviti

Stafnesviti is a compact, square orange lighthouse perched at the tip of the Reykjanes Peninsula, where dramatic lava fields meet the raw North Atlantic coastline. The vivid orange color pops beautifully against grey skies, green moss-covered lava rock, and crashing waves, giving you strong graphic compositions even in flat light. Position yourself low to include the textured foreground lava and rocky shoreline, or step back to frame the lighthouse against the ocean horizon. A wide angle lens works well here to capture the expansive coastal scenery, while a longer focal length lets you compress the lighthouse against distant waves. Overcast days soften shadows and saturate the colors, but clear nights make this one of the best dark-sky locations near Keflavik for aurora photography. The site is easily accessible by car via Route 425, with a short walk from the parking area to the lighthouse itself. (Suðurnesjabær, Reykjanes, Iceland)
