Svöðufoss

Svöðufoss is a picturesque waterfall located on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, just inland from the village of Rif. The waterfall drops over a wide basalt cliff into a shallow canyon, offering a dramatic composition of geometric rock formations, cascading water, and distant views of the Snæfellsjökull glacier on clear days. A short, well-marked walking path leads from a nearby parking area to several viewpoints, making it easily accessible for photographers and those with limited mobility. The site is especially striking in soft morning or evening light, which highlights the contrast between the dark rock, green moss, and flowing water. Svöðufoss offers a quieter alternative to Iceland’s more famous falls while still delivering compelling photographic opportunities. (Snæfellsnes Peninsula, Iceland) easy to reach also for wheelchair users.
