Underpass Park
Underpass Park transforms the space beneath the Eastern Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard overpasses into a vivid urban playground, with massive concrete pillars, bold graffiti murals, and angular infrastructure creating a layered, graphic backdrop that works especially well for portrait and street photography. The painted walls change regularly, so there is almost always something fresh to work with. Shoot tight against the murals for color-saturated portraits, or step back and use the repeating columns as framing elements and leading lines. Overcast days are ideal since the structure already blocks direct sun, eliminating harsh shadows and keeping light even across the space. A 35mm or 50mm lens handles most situations well here. The park is wheelchair accessible, open year round, and the covered location means you can shoot comfortably even in light rain. (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
