Vøringfossen is one of Norway's most dramatic waterfalls, dropping roughly 163 meters into the Måbødalen canyon, and the viewpoint gives you both the full plunge and the sweeping gorge below in a single frame. The classic composition frames the falls against the canyon walls with the winding valley floor far beneath, and a wide angle lens, something in the 16-24mm range, helps you capture the full scale without losing the surrounding landscape. The upper viewing platform puts you almost level with the top of the falls, while the lower path gets you closer to the spray and lets you isolate the cascading water against the dark rock face. Overcast days work beautifully here, softening the light and reducing harsh shadows in the canyon; midday sun can create blown highlights on the white water. The site is well developed with paved paths and railings, so it is accessible for most visitors. (Eidfjord, Vestland, Norway)
