Trolltunga is one of Norway's most dramatic geological features, a horizontal rock ledge jutting roughly 10 meters out from the mountainside, suspended 700 meters above the glacial lake Ringedalsvatnet below. The classic shot has your subject standing on the tip of the tongue with the lake and surrounding fjord landscape stretching out behind them, and you will want a wide angle lens to capture the full scale of the drop. Shoot from slightly below and to the side of the ledge to emphasize the exposure and height rather than shooting flat from behind. Golden hour light in summer is ideal, and because Norway's summer days are extremely long, you have flexibility in timing. Plan for a 22 to 27 kilometer round trip hike with around 800 meters of elevation gain, taking roughly 8 to 10 hours total. Arrive early to avoid crowds at the tip, as queues can build up significantly in peak season. (Odda, Vestland, Norway)
