View of Tokyo from Rainbow Bridge
Rainbow Bridge stretches across Tokyo Bay and offers one of the most dramatic vantage points of the city skyline, with the towers of Shiodome and Shinjuku rising in the background and the illuminated Tokyo Tower often stealing the frame. The pedestrian walkway runs along the side of the bridge, giving you a long elevated perspective where you can use the cable lines and suspension structure as natural framing elements. Shooting through the fence gaps is straightforward with a longer lens, around 70-200mm, which also helps compress the skyline and make distant buildings feel closer together. Blue hour and the period just after sunset work best here, when the city lights are fully on but the sky still holds some color. Access is free via the pedestrian path, reached from Shibaura on the north side or Odaiba on the south, and the walk itself takes about 20 minutes end to end. (Tokyo, Kanto, Japan)
