Wells Street Bridge
The Wells Street Bridge is a historic double-deck bascule bridge spanning the Chicago River, offering some of the city's most layered urban compositions. You can shoot from the bridge itself looking east or west along the river to capture the classic Chicago canyon effect, with skyscrapers rising on both sides and the water acting as a natural leading line. The riverwalk below gives you a low angle looking up at the bridge's steel structure, which works well for architectural detail shots. Golden hour and blue hour both reward you here, when the city lights begin to reflect off the water and the warm or cool tones play off the metalwork. A wide angle lens handles the full cityscape well, while a longer focal length lets you compress the building layers behind the bridge. The riverwalk is easily accessible via stairs from street level. (Chicago, Illinois, United States)
