Whiterock Beach is a tucked-away cove on the Dublin coastline, wedged between dramatic rocky headlands with views stretching out across Dublin Bay toward Howth and the Wicklow Mountains. To reach it you descend a steep staircase cut into the cliff, which itself makes for a strong leading line as you frame the shore below. Once on the beach, the exposed rock formations on either side give you natural framing elements, and the mix of smooth sand and textured stone creates foreground interest at low tide. Sunrise is the standout time to shoot here, with warm light coming in low over the bay and catching the wet rocks and breaking waves. A wide angle lens works well for capturing the full sweep of the cove. The staircase can be slippery when wet, so wear good footwear and check tide times before heading down.
