This rusting WWII-era US Navy landing craft sits beached along the dramatic, seldom-visited shores of Mjóifjörður, one of Iceland's most remote and narrow fjords. The wreck itself is heavily weathered and richly textured, making it ideal for close-up detail shots as well as wider compositions that place it against the steep fjord walls and dark water. A wide angle lens works well to include the surrounding landscape, while a longer focal length lets you compress the scene and emphasize the mountains behind. Overcast days are your friend here, softening the light and bringing out the deep rust tones without harsh shadows. You will need a 4x4 vehicle for the roughly 30 to 35 minute drive down an unpaved gravel road, but the journey itself offers additional stops worth shooting. Plan for midday visits in summer when light lingers for hours, giving you flexibility to work different angles. (Mjóifjörður, Iceland)
