Cromer Beach Huts

Cromer Beach Huts - Photo by charlielisa1 / 1

The colourful beach huts lining Cromer's seafront are a classic coastal subject, offering bold blocks of pastel and primary colours set against the wide Norfolk sky and sandy beach. The main row sits at the western end of the beach, with a longer stretch further east giving you plenty of options to work with. Shoot low and wide to compress the huts into a repeating pattern, or position yourself at one end and use a short telephoto to stack the colours together. Early morning light is ideal, giving you warm directional light along the hut fronts with far fewer people around. Overcast days actually work well here too, keeping colours saturated without harsh shadows. The beach is easily accessible via the promenade steps, and the pier and chalk cliffs nearby make useful additions to a wider composition. A 24-70mm covers most shooting scenarios comfortably.
