Cromer Promenade

Cromer Promenade - Photo by charlielisa1 / 1

Cromer Promenade runs along the top of the sea wall above the beach, offering elevated views across the North Sea and down toward the town's Victorian pier. The intricate stonework of the walkway itself makes for strong foreground interest, and the ornate railings work well as leading lines drawing the eye toward the pier or out to sea. Shoot from the overlooks during high tide and rough weather when waves crash dramatically against the sea wall, sometimes sending spray right up onto the walkway. Overcast days are common here and actually work in your favor, adding mood and texture to the grey North Sea. Golden hour on a clear morning brings warm light across the beach below. A wide angle lens suits the sweeping coastal views, while a longer focal length lets you isolate the pier or compress the rooftops of the town behind. The promenade is fully accessible and easy to walk its full length. (Cromer, Norfolk, England)
