About Heart's Content Lighthouse
Heart's Content Lighthouse is an eye catching lighthouse sitting out on the point at the mouth of the harbour in charming fishing village of Heart's Content. It's a short cast iron tower painted in bold red and white spirals, that you can easily see from well down the road. There is lots of space to set up and experiment with compositions on the open grass at the end of the point with the harbour on one side and the bay on the other. Trinity Bay runs west from here, so the evening sun comes in low across the water and catches the seaward face of the tower. Making sunset the ideal time to be here. Getting in close and shooting up the tower pairs the spirals against the sky, or you can back off far enough to bring the harbour and the houses along the shoreline into the picture. Plus it's an amazing spot to pull out your drone and capture the lighthouse from out over the water. There's no fee, and with picnic tables up there and a trail carrying on along the coast, you can easily wait out a flat sky. (Heart's Content, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada)
