Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon

Jökulsárlón is a glacial lagoon in southeast Iceland where enormous icebergs calve off Breiðamerkurjökull glacier and drift slowly toward the Atlantic, creating one of the most surreal and photogenic scenes in the world. The floating bergs range from deep blue to white and translucent, giving you endless compositional options; try shooting low from the shoreline to reflect the ice in the still water, or position a large iceberg in the foreground with the glacier flowing down in the background. The nearby Diamond Beach, just across the road, is equally striking with ice chunks scattered across black volcanic sand. Overcast days actually work well here by bringing out the deep blues in the ice, though golden hour light adds a warm contrast against the cool tones. A wide zoom in the 16-35mm range handles both sweeping landscapes and tighter iceberg details. The lagoon is right off the Ring Road and very accessible. (Jökulsárlón, South Iceland, Iceland)
