Kennedy Falls is a dramatic 40-meter cascade tucked deep in the coastal rainforest north of Vancouver, reached via a rugged 10-kilometer round-trip trail that winds past ancient cedars, mossy creek crossings, and dense old-growth forest. The falls themselves drop in a powerful single curtain into a misty basin, and you can position yourself close enough to feel the spray, which adds atmosphere to long exposures. A wide-angle lens works well to capture the full height of the drop alongside the surrounding forest walls. Overcast days are ideal here since the deep canyon blocks direct sun and flat light keeps highlights from blowing out on the white water. Wear waterproof boots as the trail involves multiple creek crossings and muddy sections, and use a rain cover for your gear near the falls. A neutral density filter will help you achieve silky water in the low-light conditions. (North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada)
