La Favorite Saint-Paul is one of those Parisian corners that stops you mid-stride. The entire front of this Marais cafe is draped in dense pink floral arrangements that cascade over the awning and frame the entrance, creating one of the most photogenic store fronts in the 4th arrondissement. From across the street, you can capture the full spread of flowers against the Haussmann-style building above, or move in closer for tighter compositions using the terrace furniture, menu boards, and sidewalk as foreground. The corner position gives you two shooting angles along each street, and the west facing Rivoli side picks up warm afternoon and evening light. Inside, the black and white checkerboard floor tiles and pink floral installations on the ceiling create strong graphic contrast, useful for overhead or low angle interior shots. Morning is your best window if you want clean exterior shots without crowds, since this stretch of Rivoli fills up quickly after mid-morning. The terrace seats are usually occupied by late morning, which either works for amstreet photography feel or gets in the way, depending on what you want. Shooting from the opposite sidewalk with a short telephoto lets you compress the flowers, signage, and terrace activity into a layered composition. (Paris, Ile-de-France, France)
