The Conciergerie is one of Paris's most striking medieval landmarks, a Gothic fortress rising dramatically from the banks of the Seine with its signature towers and pale stone facade that photograph beautifully in almost any light. Position yourself on the Quai de la Mégisserie on the opposite bank to capture the full riverside elevation reflected in the water below. Early morning is ideal when the light is soft, the crowds are thin, and the Seine sits calm enough for clean reflections; the building also looks striking at blue hour when its warm interior lights contrast against the darkening sky.
