Notre-Dame de Paris is one of the most recognizable Gothic cathedrals in the world, rising from the Île de la Cité with its twin towers, intricate stone façade, and elegant flying buttresses. The classic front view from the Parvis Notre-Dame square gives you a symmetrical wide composition, best captured with a 24mm or wider lens to fit the full façade. For the famous flying buttresses along the apse, walk around to the eastern end and shoot from street level or from the Pont de l'Archevêché bridge across the Seine. Morning light hits the western façade directly, making it ideal for detail shots of the carved portals and rose window. The cathedral reopened in late 2024 following post-fire restoration, so conditions around the site are actively improving. Arrive early on weekdays to avoid crowds filling the foreground of your wide shots. (Paris, Île-de-France, France)
