Seine View

Seine View - Photo by Brian Blackwell1 / 1

Quai de la Tournelle offers one of the most iconic views in Paris, placing you along the Seine's left bank with Notre-Dame Cathedral rising directly across the water. The combination of the river, the Pont de l'Archevêché bridge in the foreground, and the cathedral's towers and spire creates natural layering that works beautifully for compression shots with a medium telephoto lens around 70-135mm. Position yourself at the stone parapet and shoot slightly downstream to include the bridge as a leading element into the frame. Blue hour is the sweet spot here, arriving just after sunset when the cathedral's floodlights warm up against a deep blue sky and the Seine reflects the city glow below. The walkway is fully accessible and runs for several hundred meters, so you have flexibility to adjust your framing and find the cleanest sightlines between trees. (Paris, Île-de-France, France)
