Lac Beauvert
Lac Beauvert is a strikingly clear, turquoise-green lake in Jasper National Park, best known for the view it offers of the historic Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge sitting along its far shore, framed by the Rocky Mountains behind. The vivid color of the water comes from glacial sediment, and it photographs beautifully in almost any light. From the far side of the lake, a wide-angle lens lets you capture the lodge, the reflections on the water, and the mountain backdrop all in one frame; a longer lens compresses the scene and isolates the lodge against the peaks. Sunset is the classic time to shoot here, when warm light hits the lodge and the mountains glow. The trail around the lake is moderate and well-maintained, so plan for roughly 20 to 30 minutes of walking to reach the best vantage points on the opposite shore from the lodge.
