Perched at nearly 2,100 meters above sea level, the summit of Mount Pilatus gives you sweeping views across Lake Lucerne, the surrounding alpine valleys, and layers of jagged peaks stretching in every direction. On clear days the scene is extraordinary, with the lake's blue-green water far below acting as a natural anchor for wide landscape compositions. A 24mm or wider lens works well here for capturing the full panoramic scale, while a short telephoto lets you compress distant ridgelines into dramatic layers. Shoot during the golden hour after sunrise for warm, raking light across the peaks and long shadows that add depth to the terrain. Afternoon clouds often build around the summit, so arriving early increases your chances of clear conditions. The summit has multiple viewing platforms and short walking paths between them, giving you varied angles from the rocky ridgeline. (Hergiswil, Nidwalden, Switzerland)
