This riverfront vantage point gives you a classic view along the Reuss as it flows through Lucerne's medieval old town, with colorful painted facades, the iconic Chapel Bridge, and the distant Alps all potentially in a single frame. Position yourself along the embankment and shoot down the river to use the water as a natural leading line toward the bridge and its distinctive water tower. A wide angle lens works well here to capture the full sweep of the scene, though a short telephoto lets you compress the layers of architecture and mountains behind. Early morning is ideal, when soft light falls on the building facades and the water is calm enough for reflections; you will also have far fewer people to work around. The embankment is flat and easy to walk, giving you options to shift your position and adjust framing as the light changes. (Lucerne, Central Switzerland, Switzerland)
