Spreuerbrücke
Built in 1407, this narrow wooden covered bridge stretches across the Reuss River and offers a quieter, less crowded alternative to the nearby Kapellbrücke. Inside, the low timber ceiling is lined with 67 triangular panels depicting the Dance of Death, a haunting 17th-century painting cycle that rewards close inspection and makes for compelling interior shots. For architecture and detail work, a wide-angle lens lets you capture the receding perspective of the painted panels down the length of the bridge, while a short telephoto isolates individual scenes against the dark wood. Step outside to shoot the bridge itself from the riverbanks, where the low wooden structure reflects beautifully in the Reuss. Overcast days work well here, softening harsh shadows both inside and on the water. Early morning gives you the exterior almost to yourself. The bridge is fully pedestrian and accessible year-round with no entry fee. (Lucerne, Switzerland)
