This compact octagonal lighthouse is one of Toronto's oldest surviving structures, relocated from its original Queen's Wharf position to the grounds near Exhibition Place, where it now stands as a striking historic artifact against a modern urban backdrop. The lighthouse's white-painted stone exterior and distinctive shape make it a strong subject for architectural and heritage photography. Work with wide to standard focal lengths to capture the full structure in context, or move in close to isolate the geometric facets and weathered details. The surrounding trees and pathway can be used to frame the tower, and the nearby Princes' Gates add an additional architectural element worth incorporating into wider compositions. Overcast days work particularly well here, softening harsh shadows on the pale facade, though golden hour light in the late afternoon warms the stone nicely. Street parking and transit access make this an easy stop to combine with a broader shoot along the lakefront. (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
