Remic Rapids Park stretches along the Ottawa River just west of downtown, where shallow rapids churn over exposed bedrock and a rotating collection of hand-balanced rock cairns by artist John Felice Ceprano add a striking human element to the natural scene. The combination of rushing water, rugged stone, and the wide river beyond gives you a lot to work with in a single frame. Try positioning the cairns in the foreground with the rapids and far shoreline behind them, or get low near the water's edge to emphasize the texture of the rocks and the flow of the current. A wide angle lens works well for environmental shots, while a longer focal length lets you isolate individual sculptures against the river. Sunset is the strongest time to visit, with warm light coming in from the west and painting both the water and the stones. The park is flat, accessible, and easy to walk along the shore to find your best angle. (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada)
