Sakya Muni Buddha Gaya Temple

Tucked along Race Course Road in Little India, this striking Buddhist temple draws photographers with its tiered pagoda exterior, vibrant murals, and the towering 15-metre seated Buddha dominating the interior. Outside, the ornate facade works well with a wide angle lens to capture the full height of the structure against the sky, especially in the early morning when the street is quiet and golden light falls directly on the front. Step inside and you will find the gilded Buddha surrounded by thousands of smaller statues and offerings, creating a layered, atmospheric composition. A standard or short telephoto lens lets you isolate details like the intricate carvings or candlelit altars without disturbing worshippers. Shoot during weekday mornings for softer crowds and better interior light from the entrance. Remove your shoes before entering and be respectful of active ceremonies.
