Saint Chapelle Church
Built in the 13th century within the Palais de la Justice complex on Île de la Cité, Sainte-Chapelle is one of the most visually stunning interiors in Europe. The upper chapel is essentially a cage of glass, with 15 floor-to-ceiling stained glass windows stretching 15 meters high and covering over 1,000 square meters of biblical scenes. For photography, position yourself at the back of the upper chapel and shoot down the nave toward the altar to capture the full sweep of the windows as a unified composition. A wide-angle lens in the 16-24mm range works best here. Midday on a bright sunny day is ideal, when direct light floods through the glass and saturates the colors. Arrive right at opening time to avoid crowds in your frames. A tripod is not permitted, so bump your ISO and shoot wide open to manage the low ambient light. (Paris, Île-de-France, France)
