The Ward's Island ferry dock gives you an unobstructed view of the Toronto skyline across the Inner Harbour, with the CN Tower anchoring the composition and the city's glass towers reflecting light at all hours. From the dock itself, you can shoot straight across the water for a clean, symmetrical skyline reflection, or walk along the shoreline in either direction to find angles that compress the buildings or include foreground interest like moored boats and weathered pilings. Blue hour, just after sunset, is the sweet spot here, when the city lights begin to glow and the sky still holds colour without going fully dark. Sunrise works well too, casting warm light directly onto the east-facing facades. A wide-angle lens captures the full skyline sweep, while a short telephoto lets you isolate the CN Tower against the clusters of towers around it. The ferry runs regularly from Jack Layton Ferry Terminal, making access straightforward. (Toronto Island, Ontario, Canada)
