Ward's Island Cityscape
Ward's Island sits at the eastern end of the Toronto Islands, offering some of the cleanest and least crowded views of the downtown Toronto skyline across the open water of Lake Ontario. The north-facing shoreline gives you a wide, unobstructed composition with the CN Tower anchoring the left side of the frame and the financial district towers stretching out to the right. Shoot from the grassy waterfront area and experiment with foreground interest using rocks, driftwood, or the gentle wave action along the shore. A standard zoom or wide angle lens works well here, though a short telephoto lets you compress the skyline nicely. Blue hour and sunset are the prime times, when the city lights begin to glow against fading sky. Getting here requires a short ferry ride from the mainland, so check the schedule and give yourself enough time to arrive before your target light. (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
