Ward's Island View
This quiet waterfront spot on the northern tip of Ward's Island puts you directly across the inner harbour from downtown Toronto, with the CN Tower anchoring the skyline and the city spreading out on either side. The low, unobstructed shoreline lets you get close to the water's edge for reflections when conditions are calm, and you can shift left or right along the bank to compress or open up the skyline depending on how much of the waterfront you want to include. A wide to standard zoom in the 24-70mm range works well here, though a longer focal length lets you pull the CN Tower closer and stack the buildings for a more dramatic compression. Blue hour and golden hour both reward you, with sunrise bringing warm light directly onto the city facade. Getting here requires a short ferry ride from the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal, so check the schedule and arrive early to secure your spot before the light changes.
