Perched on the southwestern tip of Bali's Bukit Peninsula, this viewpoint looks back toward Uluwatu Temple sitting dramatically on the cliff edge above the Indian Ocean, giving you one of the most iconic compositions on the island. Position yourself to frame the temple against the open ocean, using the layered cliff faces to add depth and scale to your shot. A telephoto lens in the 70-200mm range lets you compress the distance and isolate the temple structure against the sea and sky. Sunset is the standout time to visit, when warm golden light catches the clifftops and silhouettes the temple's tiered pagoda against a richly colored sky. Arrive at least 30 minutes before sunset to secure a good spot, as it draws a crowd. Watch your footing near the cliff edges, and keep an eye on your gear around the local monkeys.
