Woahink Lake
Woahink Lake sits within Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park, a deep freshwater lake surrounded by dense coastal forest and bordered by sandy dunes on its western edge. The combination of still reflective water, fir trees pressing close to the shoreline, and the occasional dune backdrop gives you layered compositions that feel both wild and intimate. Early morning is your best window, when mist often hovers over the surface and the water is glassy enough for clean reflections of the treeline. Position yourself low near the bank to maximize the mirror effect, or find one of the small clearings where you can frame the lake with overhanging branches as a natural border. A wide angle lens works well for capturing the breadth of the scene, while a short telephoto helps compress the distant tree layers.
