Fossarétt is a tucked-away shooting location in rural Iceland that combines a small but striking waterfall with the crumbling stone ruins of old sheep enclosures, giving you that layered mix of nature and history that works beautifully in a frame. Position yourself low near the creek to use the water as a leading line toward the ruins, or pull back wide to show the surrounding landscape. If you continue upstream past the first waterfall, a second equally photogenic drop hides behind the hill and rewards the short extra walk. A wide angle lens suits this location well, capturing both the intimate foreground textures and the open Icelandic sky above. Overcast light softens the scene nicely, but the real prize here is during Northern Lights season or in late spring when purple lupins fill the meadow and transform the whole composition. Parking is straightforward and the walk is easy on relatively flat terrain. (Hvalfjarðarvegur, Iceland)
